How to get the bulbs. to flower next spring ?
I bought as many bulbs.. and plantet the most out in my garden..
But i have left overs..
I love to grow plants.. and i specialy love when they flower.. in the early month
January .. February-- where nothing else is flowering here..
I live in Denmark.. a country with cold winters.. we are having frost down to minus 20 degree
So when the winter set in..it is impossible to dig the bulbs.. as they will die un rooted
So i decided to learn.. How to root them indoor.s..and give the the chilling period 6 - 8 weeks of very cold temperature..
I have a light but cool room where they can stay until i can do the preparing.
I have a very cool cellar.. where there is space for them to be inside.. but still very cool and dark
i have a barn where i have all the filling.. soil and so called lega chips. pots and big bucket s with holes in the bottom.. very importend.. as the water can penetrate and get out..
I have flat plastic containers , left overs from film making - but other containers can be used.
I have bubble plast and paper to put over them
So to prepare it.. I take the flat co
ntainer and fill 1 - 2 cm of soil / lega mix in - i put water in - in the water i use i have put 2 - 4 drops of Grape Kernel oil for 1liter of water - you can also use another fluid preserving.. as the bulbs will make mould and rotten if you do not put it in.
then i have maked name markers to put by the bulbs.. so i can see what is what - then i place the bulbs with the name markers.. in such a way that there is a layer where all can be set beside.. not overlapping each other..then i place the bubble plastic on top and some paper over it.. to make darknes.
Now they have to stay here.. for 1 - 2 weeks
I test how they are each day.. and in few days 4 - 5 days.. they begin
